Turkish delights

#1 All in one Kebab

Margherita pizza, lamb steaks, chicken chop, kebab, grilled brinjal
Nak dijadikan cerita, on the day we had this meal, we were walking towards Taksim Square. We all seemed lost actually, and would rather go into any shop which could give us large meals. So, bila semua orang tengok harga in front of the restaurant, we thought it was a good bargain, so we decided to have a go in there. The restaurant looked completely exclusive with aromatic smell of tasty cuisines, and one thing in our mind,
"cukup ke duit kita nak makan besar ni? dah pokai dah poket aku"
but then demi pengalaman di bumi Turki ini, kitorang 'belasah' je la. Bukan nak datang selalu pon kan? And ternyata our chosen meal was perfect, tepat dengan citarasa kami. And the price was worth-it. We were SATISFIED with our lunch on that day.

#2 Sultan's favourite

Sultan's favourite is a famous yet traditional Turkish delicacy which everyone should try out. But, not for Hafiz. He once ordered it for his very first dinner upon his arrival that evening. On the menu, it was well-described to have grilled brinjals, pilau rice and kofta curry-like. But, when the ordered dinner came, we were all speechless as that Sultan's favourite did not meet Hafiz's expectation especially. It was rather looked like dog food as it was served on a round black plate. Sultan's favourite which he previously imagined as luxurious meal turned out to be an ordinary meal served with mashed brinjals instead of grilled ones. After finished eating, Hafiz conveyed his dissatisfaction to the promoter. The promoter felt guilty and persuaded him to come over tomorrow, so he could serve a better one. Nasi telah menjadi bubur. He has lost one more customer.

#3 Fast food burgers i.e from Burger King and Mc Donalds ; Pizza @ Pizza Hut

It was such a heaven in Istanbul where we could eat at any fast food restaurant as all meats and chickens were halal. Although they may be considered more expensive than kebab meals, we were so grateful that we got the chance to eat them far away from Malaysia. It had been a long time too since we had our last such burgers back home. So, as to celebrate New Year, we bought Mc Donalds burgers for our New Year's eve dinner and ate them while playing cards.

Chicken curry? No, I don't know what it is

#5 Kokorec

Sekian la cerita kokorec ni. Bila fikir balik, rasa geli pon ada. Tapi waktu makan, sedap je. LOL. Nak tahu kokorec ni apa? Kokorec is actually sheep's intestines. Can you imagine intestines are served as a main meal? Lucky that we don't know Turkish language. Kalau tak, memang x makan la benda ni.

#6 Ikan bakar

We forgot to take picture of this expensive meal sebab memang dah lapar sangat. So, kami bedal je terus ikan bakar tersebut. Alkisah sebelum nak dapat makan ikan bakar... We were stopped by a promoter of the very first restaurant underneath the bridge. He offered us good prices for the menu they served. But, we wanted to survey first, so we kept the offer first and he said,
"This usually happens all the time. When people walk away from my restaurant, they have never came back. Please brothers, you can walk through this corridor and turn left at the end of it, walk back to my restaurant and I can promise you all the offers"
Serba salah kitorang. Jalan je depan sikit, dah ada promoter lain stop kitorang. Apa lagi, cabut lah. Every promoter of each restaurant tried to stop us. So, in the end, 5 orang cabut, tunggu kat hujung dock, lagi 2 negotiate dengan promoters. Banyak lah taktik diorang nak tarik pelanggan. Ada sampai kutuk restaurant lain lagi. Sabar je la tengok perangai dorang. One thing about the promoter, they don't tally the offer with people inside and so with our case. We did not really get the promised offer, but could not be bothered to retaliate. So, we ate elegantly on that Christmas eve.
