Jakarta Pusat a.k.a Japus. Ha, this is the place where our hotel is located. Which hotel? Hotel Pasar Baru. Price Rp 495K per night for family room and Rp 350K for standard. Just next to Pasar Baru shopping place. okay, enough for accommodation introduction.
A spotted thing when you've first been in the traffic jam or popular known as 'macet' by locals, you could see Toyota or Suzuki or Honda MPV's. There are a lot of them on the road. People won't easily assume that Indonesia is a poor country by seeing all those cars model on the roads. But, this assumption would still be wrong if you see 'setinggan' poor houses which located around the city. There are a lot too. So, I conclude to myself that, the salary distribution among Jakarta locals are not even. Ones who are rich are so richer compared to the poorer.
Exotic vehicle which is known as bajai is 'cool' too. It looks like tricycle but it has a motor engine. The cost per ride would be around 15K to 20K Rp. It would be cheaper if you hop on with three people maximum, as the cost will then be shared among three. If you are single, it is recommended to take 'ojek' to take you anywhere you want within the central. 'Ojek' is just a normal motorcycle. The cost may be in the range of 5K Rp per ride. There is one more option which is quite similar to a car taxi, but it is called 'angkut'. 'Angkut is a van type taxi. I don't know the cost for this as ... ah, I might be prejudice here by saying this, but for me, 'angkut' is quite dodgy to hop on as you'll be sitting on a bench and the van has no door. Imagine if the van is drifting, passengers might collide to each other and someone might even be thrown out.
Shopping complex? I would say Tanah abang is the best place if you love fashion. There are a lot of fashion style you could find there. Tanah abang is a 10-storrey complex, so setiap floor, barang yg dijual, lain2 la. Muslimah's fashion, Children department, undergarments, shoes and accessories and etc. Pokok pangkal nye, insyaAllah everything could be found there kot. My mom and I bought telekung, a few sets of kebaya and long dresses. The price, you have to bargain till the lowest price you could get. And it was my first time bargaining there. My mom say a price, then I bargained 20% more. Haha. Alhamdulillah, we got less prices for some, and for those who couldnt tolerate more, then it was still no la. Terkilan la jugak didnt get to buy more garments sebab x cukup duit. Haish. I wish I brought more cash. ;(
